This is the final design for my modelling and auto rigging project. I decided in the end to go for a rather classical octopus form since the proportions much more elegant compared to the shorter older octopus scetch.

The latissimus dorsi is the broadest muscle of the human back. It extends, abducts and internally rotates the arm.   In terms of the body shape this muscle has two different effects: firstly it influences the V-shape of the back, especially in athletic individuals; and secondly, because it wraps over other muscles such as the […]

For a while now I have been planning to model an octopus, that I can rig later on. They are extremely fascinating creatures in both biological and artistic sense and since I want to go deeper into tissue simulation and scripted rigging they seem to be the perfect choice of exercise as well. During my […]

A broad number of muscles are connected to the scapula and thus controll the movement of the shoulder and arm.  The serratus is connected to the inner side of the scapula and the first eight ribs on the side of the chest.  Its rather characteristic serrated shape is often mistaken as being part of the […]

The last few weeks and months I worked hardly on my diploma project. Now I am really proud to finally have an edited version of the film, thanks to my wonderful editor Gesa Jaeger. The next few weeks will be filled with sounddesign and final tweaks of the renders and composits, until the final film […]

This week I began to build up the side of the abdomen. Actually there are two muscles building that shape: the abdominal internal oblique muscle and the abdominal external oblique muscle. Their fibers run perpendicular and the external oblique covers completely the internal oblique. Especially the lower part of the external oblique has quite a […]

In order to get a deeper understanding of human anatomy I am working on a classical human ecorché with the support of my tutor Julia Dufek. An ecorché is a classical anatomy exercice. In the end you will build a proportionally ideal of a human skeleton, whereby on half of the body covered with muscles. […]

This is one of the first Arduino tests I did with Tobias Othmar Herrmann, a very talented game developer. And,  since I am completely new to Arduino, I am surely going to learn a lot from Tobi.  Our plan for the next sessions: Building a little driving robot, that needs to be controlled by […]

stopmotion effect for animations

The ET_stopmotion script serves as  a post effect for smooth animations in Maya in order to give them a rather routh and random frame-by-frame animated look. Feel free to test it
